 Hospital Recovery

You may have a drip in your arm for pain relief

 Expect

For 2-3 days you may experience:
- some bleeding and blood clots in the bowel
- some bleeding and blood clots in the urine (urine may be quite pink)
- you may find some old, brown blood in the semen for the next 3-4 weeks

 After Discharge

Rest
Drink 1.5-2 L of fluid to flush out blood
Take antibiotics until course finished
NO LIFTING as bleeding may start again

 Contact your GP if

You have fevers, shakes, chills

 Your next appointment

On discharge the nurses will give you an appointment to see the urologists in about 7-14 days after surgery. The results of your biopsy will be discussed with you in the appointment.

 Total Recovery Time

Resuming work: next day (no heavy lifting)

Resuming sexual activity: no restrictions

Driving: It is okay to drive once you are comfortable to do so and are not on sedating pain relief medication

 Need for further treatment

Will depend on the results of the biopsy.
