 Hospital Recovery

· You will be able to get out of bed and ambulate around the ward as tolerated, wearing support underwear

 Expect

· Some bruising
· Small amount of blood stained ooze

 After Discharge

· You may need to wear a pad or support underpants to provide some support to your scrotum. These are underpants which provide extra support to your scrotum. (eg: sports briefs, not boxer shorts).

 Contact your GP if

· You develop:
- Wound separation
- Increased warmth or swelling
- Increased discolouration
- Fever excessive discharge
- Unremitting pain
- Bleeding

· If your Local Doctor is not available (eg: on the weekend) you should come to the Emergency Medicine Department.

 Your next appointment

· On discharge the nurses will give you an appointment to see the urologists in about 2-3 weeks after surgery

 Total Recovery Time

· Resuming work
- 1-2 weeks
· Resuming sexual activity
· Resuming work
- 1-2 weeks
· Resuming sexual activity
- 4-6 weeks
· Driving: It is okay to drive once you are comfortable to do so and are not on sedating pain relief medication
· Shower: It is okay to take a shower (but NOT A BATH). Be sure you dry the area thoroughly. 4-6 weeks
